Adoption Tale: Ladybug
The tale of Ladybug is one of not only adoption and finding a new friend, but of love, connection and overcoming obstacles together.
When Steve Good, of Gladwin, went to the Gladwin County Animal Shelter this year, he didn’t originally go with the intent to bring a dog home, just to look.
“At first,” Steve said, “I was just thinking about it. But they let me take her home for the night.”
After checking out the house a little bit, Steve said that Ladybug made herself right at home. From that night on, Steve and Ladybug grew closer than he could have imagined.
“She is a loving dog,” Steve said, “so I decided to keep her.”
Steve and his family have been shown so much love from Ladybug, that they all know how happy she is that she has a forever home.
“We are so happy with her,” Steve said. “She like to lick our faces and she climbs up on my lap. Even if she isn't a lap dog, I make room for her.”
Along with being a loving dog, Steve said that Ladybug’s personality goes beyond that.
“She picks up on my moods,” Steve said. “I deal with PTSD and multiple serious issues. She knows when I'm having a bad day. And she comes to me, and just want to be with me, showing some love.”
Ladybug just seems to know how to make Steve and his family feel loved and safe.
Steve said that he is very grateful for the people who had paid for Ladybug’s adoption fee.
“If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have Ladybug,” Steve said.
Loving and caring isn’t Ladybug’s only personality traits that her family love. She is also a goofy and happy dog.
“My favorite thing she does, is she chases her tail,” Steve said.
When looking back on the adoption process and how Ladybug came into his and his families lives, Steve said that he highly recommends that people go out and adopt their next pet.
“They all need a home,” Steve said. “and they will love you for it.”
